MADANI SHORT FILM COMPETITION 2022
Ufuk can mean the skyline, the horizon. It can mean the boundary of the viewpoint between the earth and the sky. But it is not just “boundary”, much less “line”. In all its directions, the horizon conveys hope, both hidden and emerging. From the east, we can almost always be sure the sun will appear and brighten our day. To the west, though the sun sets there, the horizon promises us that the light will shine again tomorrow. Even in the north, in certain countries, the horizon promises dazzling cosmic displays through the northern lights and aurora.
As the vision’s boundary, the horizon gives humans hope as well as mystery of myriad wonders and knowledge. Beyond the ostensible boundary, should we passionate enough to go on, there shall always be something new that enriches the soul.
With such spirit, this year’s Madani Short is not only programming and screening films. In 2022, we are oganizing an international scale film competition to broaden our horizons and gain new perspectives from the world’s Islamic communities, captured through the short-format cinema.In brief, Madani Short explores and peers: what are the gems behind ufuk? And with great hope, we would like to share those gems with all of Madani’s friends, as part of the 2022 Madani International Film Festival. See you soon!

It has become a polemic among the community and religious leaders since the involvement of dogs and pigs contradicts to Islamic principles. However, this has always been a taboo subject without a clear, conclusive resolution.
